Peru's president Pedro Pablo Kuczyński, under pressure after forgiving an ancestor who lost his dignity, was considering a change in his administration while trying to find a way to recover from the consequences. Prime Minister Mercedes-Benz Araoz said that 79-year-old Wall Street investor Kuczynski had asked him to lead the cabinet and look for ways to strengthen it. "The president has ordered me to review the review thoroughly and we will see what happens in the next few days," Arasazi said at a press conference Wednesday.
This is his first public appearance since forgiving the former Alberto Fujimori oppressive leader on Christmas Eve, causing severe protests and political resignations.
In the last two weeks, the political situation in the leading exporters of Peruvian metals has suddenly become volatile, after the Congress ruled by the opposition trying to overthrow Kuczynski following scandalous corruption.
Two days later, he forgave Fujimori, who tortured his opponents claiming that forgiveness was a punishment for keeping Kuczynski in the office.
It is unclear whether the minister might be at risk of restructuring. But the reforms will announce a new twist to the right to the right-middle-left coalition government. Kuczynski denounced him as a "traitor" for forgiving Fujimori.
No plans to replace the finance minister, Claudia Cooper, a government source.
According to the physician, Fujimori was hospitalized in Lima, where he was delivered to the hospital and returned to the hospital to undergo serious medical and cardiac problems.
Araoz said he respected the decision to forgive Fujimori Kuczynski, noting that it had been evaluated long before the vote to expel him in Congress.
"Not that I or any member of my Cabinet and the Peruvian Party for Change are involved in any negotiation in humanitarian pardon (vote) negotiations," Araoz said.
Fujimori was sentenced to 12 years in prison for 25 years for crimes of corruption and human rights in the right wing government. In 1990-2000, Cassinski's decision freed him from the conviction and protected him from criminal proceedings during a pending trial.
Fujimori was reviled by many who thought he was a totalitarian. But appreciated by others, he credits for saving Peru from the economic crisis and leftist protesters.
On Wednesday, Minister of Culture Salvador Del Sol announced his resignation from Twitter, the first cabinet member to resign after being forgiven.
At least three presidential advisors from the Ministry of Justice and two media personalities also resigned. Three lawmakers from the party announced their resignation earlier this week.
Fujimori's opponents plan a new protest on Thursday.
